The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has been nominated to chair the RABAT PROCESS, a Euro-African Dialogue for Immigration and Development.

According to sources, President Tinubu has thrown his weight behind Yilwatda's nomination, which is expected to be confirmed soon. The RABAT PROCESS brings together 60 countries from North, West, and Central Africa, as well as the European Union, to address migration challenges and promote development.

Yilwatda's nomination is seen as a testament to his outstanding performance as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, where he has worked tirelessly to reposition and recalibrate the ministry to effectively carry out its mandate.

Under his leadership, the ministry has revived and recast government interventions, such as cash transfers, skill acquisition, and employment programs, to reduce poverty in the country. Yilwatda has also hosted high-profile diplomats, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, and led a delegation to Benue State to assist people in IDP camps and boost agriculture.

If confirmed, Yilwatda's chairmanship of the RABAT PROCESS will position Nigeria to attract international funding and technical assistance for projects addressing unemployment and poverty. This development is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economic development and humanitarian efforts.

The nomination has been hailed as a proud moment for Nigeria, with many praising Yilwatda's expertise, competence, and dedication to humanitarian work.
